would dosing vineegar and vodka not pee my torches off they we're not cheap £2050 for 3 torches
Here’s a question to ponder: Are frequent water changes creating variations in chemical stability of your tank?
Just to be clear, GFO is not for nitrates.
you right, I thought about biopellets in reactor. mea culpa

don't know but only 1 torch gets pee'd off with water changes and it's fine the next day i would rather not risk dosing vinegar and vodka and killing them

Do your torches like Nitrate level of 60 ppm?
That’s the level of Nitrates I had in my FOWLR and noting was growing there except some mushrooms.

I don't understand where all the nitrate is coming from. What is your water source? I feed buckets of food into my system and keep around 5. What are you feeding the system?

Dosing carbon should be done VERY gradually and methodically. All it does is supercharge growth of the bacteria population (over time). Those bacteria then process the nitrate which gasses off into nitrogen when consumed. One could argue it is less disturbing than 20% WCs.

*edit: You cannot do carbon dosing without an effective skimmer. Important to note this.

dnu i have 1 snail it was all over like 2 days ago now it's pretty much gone just thought it was wierd

If I cycle with dry rock, I sometimes get GHA after a bit that blooms then dies off. I assume it likes ammonia which other things end up uptaking/converting too and it gets outcompeted.
