Sat down this morning and wrote multiple wave profiles to run based on time of day. Sometimes I have the pumps synced, sometimes they are opposed, different intensities and pulse durations. I am really liking the random flow patterns. Stirring up some junk, so this obviously helped with some dead spots. Overall I am very happy with the results.

hey so for the cabinet, does the double door side open the same way for both doors? i feel like if that's how it is, what a terrible design choice. i can barely get myself in there with it like that. i'm gonna put the sump further to the left where i can access it easier, but man i don't get why they wouldn't open opposite each other so you can access it easier..

I'm not sure how they are on the factory stand as mine is custom. You can see from the pictures I posted earlier that my stand opens up with tons of access.

Been experimenting with my lighting setup. Ditched the t5's. Tank was getting warmer than I'd like with them and they were bothering my wife's eyes. For now, I have the original pair of hydra 26 hd's with a radion xr15 g4 pro mounted between them, all set to the ab+ spectrum. I have the hydras ramp down to 0 by 8pm, and the xr15 at 5% from 8-8:45pm, then it ramps to 0 by 9pm.

Took these shots under the radion at 5% tonight. Figured I'd share. I have a few more pieces of coral in qt that will be getting added soon.

I have not seen the fiji sumps. I was pretty set on a custom sump from the beginning. I originally planned on building the sump myself from custom cut glass, but in the end I decided going with a 40b was a lot cheaper and accomplished the same goal.

The gyres would have worked in a bare bottom sps only tank, but even turned down super low, they were providing too much flow for my toches. One of them tore from the skeleton a bit and still hasn't fully recovered to this day.

Great thread; I appreciate you taking the time to document your build. I have a 100 EXT with APS stand on preOrder shipping the last week of July. Currently have a 36" acrylic tank which will eventually be replaced by the IM. My configuration will be a bare bottom SPS tank with Marco rocks. From reading this thread, it seems like the new 4K Gyre might work for my setup and much more economical than the four MP40's I was considering. I'll be using a Trigger Sapphire 34 sump and AI Hydra 32HD x 4.

My EXT 100 shipped today. How many people did it take to lift the tank off the pallet and onto the stand? IM shows 237 pounds as the tank weight. I'd assume two guys can do this...or would you suggest a person on each corner? TIA!

Awesome build. I just pulled the trigger on this tank. Getting my plumbing ordered. Are the overflow and return bulkheads both slip fittings on the back of the tank?

I was going to put two MP40's on the back wall near the bottom just to keep detritus in the water column. Hoping one or two gyres will work instead...haven't tried one yet. Also, I have two Coral Vue RN-1's which I could use on the back wall as well. For the money, they work nicely, IMO.

Can't wait to see your build thead @garyfri! ;-)

I dont think an mp40 would stick to the back wall. You're talking about almost 3/4" worth of glass/acrylic. My mp40 barely stayed on the side glass. I had a snail climb on it and knock it off more than once.

Duly noted! Their claim is 0.75 inches (19mm)...but as you report, that claim may not hold water (pardon the pun) I have read where others have had issues with them as well. It would be nice to see more reviews on the Red Sea ReefWave 45; they also claim .75 inches.

Following. I just took delivery of 100 IM EXT. I might have a lot of questions. Still new to the hobby. Had a 20 Gal Tank for about 2 years now.
