My kenya tree just dropped all its branches, I glued them to rocks. main thing is do corals do soft corals do this when they are stressed out or is this a way for them to make babies when they are happy? im afraid im end up with a thousand kenya trees in my tank lol

I bought a rock with a few of them when I started reefing.Its been 2 years and now I got tons of it in my tank.They fall off and attach them selves to anything.One time I had a hermit crab with one growing on his back. Its got to the point im pulling them out like weeds now. Never noticed them dropping everything though I wouldnt worry those things are hard to kill.

its true... while i was in alabama training for work for 2 weeks my gf got a large kenya, by the time i got back i had about 20 all over the tank. ive been slowly gettting rid of them and only have a few small ones atm i cant get to without tearing rock apart. when i move tanks im breaking the rock off they are attached to and getting rid of them!

to your question though, they just break off like that to guareentee they survive lol and it will be fine once it settles in, and you will have them everywhere.

Not sure how well the glue will hold... if you do want them on a certain rock, try a rubberband.

Depending on what kind of tank you want? A lot of poeople in this hobby think Kenya tree and mushrooms are pretty at first. But, after a while they go out of control. And you can get rid of them.

They follow in the catergory with Xenia's, GSP too. Pretty, but grow like wildfire and you want them out ASAP.

And the one's that fell off, will be missing for a while. But give it a month or two and you will see it attached to a rock and reaching for the light. They are extremely hardy. Get them out now, just my .02 if you don't want a forrest of them. lol

ya, the dropping of branches is just a form { more than likley} of self propagation, nothing to worry about if a softie tank is what you are after, they will take over, if this is your first tank, you proably want to start a different tank when you get ready to upgrade to more exspensive hard corals, but I have a large softie tank with a lot of misfit corals in there, I have three or four different kinds of kenya tree, a couple different small leathers, xenia , a dozen or so different kinds of mushrooms, even the common pest aptasia they don't really bother me, they just battle it out for there own space, and the tank has really filled in in the last couple of years, and it proably gets the most attention of any of my tanks, when people come over to visit , and it is the least work of them all,

hahahaha thats so funny sorry to laugh at your expense. But man this sucks i caught it before hand i had one it started dropping its lil babies everywhere and this puppy went out the door he went on the give away thread real quick. I do have a colt coral i think it has better color and doesnt propagate itself.

the glue worked great, but ive noticed that i missed some and they are now in my sump cause im scared of them popping up everywere and i have lots of expensive corals
