Here is what I think. My logic is to pick the popular and fast growing piece

Chalice route: Candy Cane-> Miami Hurricane -> Jersey Diesel -> My Miami

Zoa/poly route: Candy Cane -> purple death -> blue hornets -> purple hornets -> red hornets -> My Miami

I hope that you have good luck with this experiment. I can let you know that I started with polyps because everyone loves polyps asnd I traded a bunch of frags from my collection and now have Miami Hurricane, Tubbs alien eye, and ReefReady Keylime mango, Origial Tyree watermelon, Reef Ready Reverse Hurricane, and another Reef Ready that is purple with pink mouths. So it is do able. I just now hvae to grow these out and find trades for them and keep my polyps growing and in turn I have been doing the same thing for over 1 year now. I wish you luck. Ill keep an eye on this tread to see if you get something that I have to have. Like Purple hornets and red hornets. Good luck

That's a good one. I like the zoa route better, but I will change the purple death to candy apple red. Local people seem to go for that more. They like the multi colors.

Twinspot, do you have a Chalice/Zoa/ Paly route?

Hmm having a preplanned route seems cool, but I wonder how accurate it will be lol. It all depends on what peeps are willing to trade.
You think I should hold out on planned corals?

I think your Zoa/Paly route is pretty realistic. I also agree with Bay Corals on the Candy Apple. Another that has grown real well for me that seems to fetch a fair amount of interst is the Nightmare's Palys, I bought a frag of three and have twelve in just a 3 month span. This is probably going to be my first item on the trading block, followed closely with the Blue Hornets. My one purple is now two..so this one is moving along, just not so fast.

I have no doubt you will get there.

my purple hornets are growing like a weed. started with 6 and now 14 in 2 months.

Nice, I didnt have the chance to start with 6, but the only extra polyp appeared about 2 weeks after I got my single polyp.

What would the experts say

Candy Cane = # of Purple Death/Candy Cane
# Purple Death/Candy Cane = #blue hornets purple hornets
6(?) blue hornets = 1 (?)purple hornets
2-3 (?) purple hornets = 1 (?) Red Hornet
10-15 (?)red hornets -> 1 Georgeous eye of My Miami

As soon as you reach the blue hornet stage. You should be well on your way. Those are amazing zoas. Especially for trading.

I think the zoa paly route will be the best way to go, from growth to fraggability to desirability. The tricky bit will be getting past the candy cane.

IMO I would try to trade zoas all the way up to the my miami. candy apple reds, blue hornet, purple hornet, red hornet, my miami, but keep some frags of them for yourself along the way. I know that I would.

Would not want to see how big that colony would have to be. I have seen a colony of 100 head of Green Hammer. It was a little smaller then a basketball.

From my exeperience I had to start on a local site. I either sold or traded for a bunch of stuff then I was able to get the higher sought after corals. So you might try to post it on your home site and then as you get higher end things you could post them on here and a local site. JMO
