The gum, but the chalice tastes pretty similar... I can see where it got it's name. LOL:wink::tongue:

LOL sure but it'll cost ya!:xd::moneygrubber:

Back on topic though I have seen the my miami in person and personally it is idendical in coloration to the BPC watermelon (which turned out to be a rotundo) except that the BPC has green rings around the eyes. I personally would not pay more than $250 an eye for the my miami regardless of the story behind it. The $500 efflo has that name for a reason, but you don't see everyone selling frags of it for the original price of $500.

Hmmm, interesting, so I'm not the only one who finds the similarity uncanny.

That's a pic of my rotundaflora. It also tends to show a dark green ring around the eyes under straight actinics, so probably similar to the BPC watermelon. I honestly can't see how the My Miami could be so much nicer than that that it would be worth $1,475 more per eye than the rotundaflora. Does being a chalice make it worth more automatically, regardless of morphology and color similarities? That just shows how bad the palytoxin is affecting people...

can't wait to get my frag of your rotundaflora. ;)

honestly, i'd think the rotundaflora should be more expensive. i have only seen a few rotundafloras offered in the hobby. there are tons of chalices!

Here are a few pics of the BPC WM mother colony. This colony was lost although I have a two eye frag that is growing back out.

Here is a colony I picked up a few weeks ago that got shipped out of the same location as the original.

Every wonder why WWC held back on releasing this corals?

why don't you get your facts straight before assuming things, first the only reason I have not release the coral is due to the original owner (Jason Fox) When I first saw a picture of the coral i will not leave him alone for a frag until one day he agree to sell me a frag of it with the condition that i will not sell a single frag of it until he said so, and i said yes with no problem at all, now people offer me all day long $1500 for a frag and i say NO, so the people driving the price up is not me, but the ones offering that cash for it are the ones raising the price, what I'm supposed to do buddy ? is called supply and demand and i can tell you that the demand for the coral is far ahead from the supply.

You got it! But I'm not going to be crazy. $1,800 per eye is plenty for me. LOL

I know what you mean though. Being of the genus Echinophylia is NOT a justification for a $100+ per eye price tag. I would barely even consider paying $1,500 for a whole coral of that. Seriously, we buy whole colonies of corals, even nice ones, for under $500 in most cases. How is this coral worth three times that for one 20th as much coral? I don't care how much I've had to drink and how good the story is, I can't buy that.

Everyone seriously needs to go on a cleansing routine and get the palytoxin out of their systems (just watch, I will single-handedly start a new myth about palytoxin dissolved in reef water). *chuckling to myself*

i've seen the my miami... it's nice but not that nice for 1500. as someone said, it's all about marketing. if someone can afford to buy it, that's their perogative. hopefully it will be a wysiwyg frag. otherwise the frag may be very very tiny... just my experience with the vendor in previous transactions

I don't think the 1st frag offered will be from WWC...

This thread is obviously pulling attention, I see 15+ active users on the thread below!

What do you mean my facts straight?
I did give you guys credit for the marketing and I still don't believe people are offering you $1500 all day.
Talking about supple and demand, of course it will be high since you guys are using 40 plus BLUE power brites, along with VHO actinic and 20k bulbs.
Like I said at the beginning of this post, nice corals, but hype is hype.

And for you info, I have been getting PM's on both forums about the Morph FF Monti since I posted a pic. I tell everyone the same story and not try to pass it on as if that's the color they should expect.

alright you guys! here is the real story on the my maimi! At the end of '07 i acquired it as a hitch hiker on a wild colony. It started growing out as a incredible chalice. a few months later i was so excited and sent the pic to a couple collectors. Victor is one of the people that i sent the pic to. I told him the price. he said he will take it. i sold victor frag number one for $1500. Jose Frag number 2 and stacy frag number 3. I did not start out with a wild colony. This is a crazy chalice and it is very limited. This is a completely captive grown coral. see you at MACNA!!!

I believe I pointed out that it was a rotundo and not a chalice awhile back and was told otherwise. Funny how its being recognize as a rotundo now.

Very nice!!!! IMHO looks much better than the My Miami. There are some crazy people out there paying or chrgeing $1500 an eye. No coral is worth that. Like others have said this type of thread only feed to the hype. I can name a dozen or more chalice that looks waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the My Miami. It is all a marketing ploy!! We as hobbyist are getting *****. This is one reason where I get turned off by some vendors and not want to ever buy anything from them. All they see is dollar signs but they say they are here to help out the hobbyist.

So this was basically a free coral you obtained then since it was a hitch hiker? Wow now I am really sick to my stomache!!!!! That story is not as great as it was put out to be!!!! A free coral now is $1500 an eye? How is that possible and how can one feel good about themselves raping fellow hobbyist?

Unless you have put in the amount of time, money, and investment into searching out things like this, its kind of hard to speak about.
I know Jason spends HOURS searching out corals to add to his collection. He got lucky with this one, just like anyone else could have if they put the time and effort into do it.
He has 100,000+ tied up in his system with thousands of corals that he has sought out.
I can't imagine how many he has lost along the way.

I'm not standing in his corner, but lets get real here, he has paid his dues.

If it is that easy, a wholesalers license is easy to get......

Just adding the flip side of the coin that a lot of people don't see or understand since they might not know what it takes to do some of the work involved to get things like this....

Just playing devi's advocate here, and adding some light to the situation that this isn't something he picked up at a local fish store and put in his 20g nano.
