Hi, that is some build and an half, you have obviously planned this well, in this hobby you have to have patience which looks like you have plenty off, can’t wait for the final results. Good luck

Excellent, how does this work the tube is higher than the surface of the 2 tanks?

They call it communicating vessels
It also apply if the connection is upside/down

Not sure wood can support the weight of this size tank though
The total weight is high, but is distributed to several beams in the length making each beam carry it own weight. Which is no more force on a single beam than that of a smaller tank (less length same width/height)

Agree, that stand looks very sturdy. Most people way overbuild their wooden stands. A single unbraced vertical 2x4 that is 80cm high (2.62 feet) can support about 3700 pounds, and he's got 12 of them under that 8 meter section. (If you add continuous bracing along the vertical length of each one so that it doesn't flex, e.g. by screwing to a plywood skin, that would bring it up to something like 6800 pounds each.) Present days: summer/autumn 2019

After a long break i resumed working on my panorama reef.

I had other priorities that needed my attention.
- complete renovation of my 250m2 rooftop
- installing PV system with 63 solarpanels to power my reeftanks
- summertime is also my time for watersport

now we are back on track

Nice idea, never seen someone do this before. Also how does your Auriga butterfly get on with the sps and other corals you’ve got? It’s one of my dream fish but I’ve never pulled the trigger on one, I always thought it would destroy my corals.

Once that’s finished, do you ever plan on leaving your living room again? That is the most ambitious project I could imagine for one person, I am beyond impressed!!

Polystyreen plates to even the pressure on the bottom.

Thanks for the link. we now have a way to calculate the strenght.
I don't have any doubts now.
Before placing the tank the stands will each be bolted by 2 bolds to the wall. This will prevent any movement and flexing
