Really need to upgrade my tank, but have been putting it off out of fear of drilling my new tank. And tips on drilling?

Drilling is easy - just go slow, try to make sure the bit is perpendicular to the glass and don’t push too hard. Keep the drill head wet - I’ve seen some people build little plasticine dams around the drilling area to contain the water, but I find the drilling template you get with the bit does well enough if you keep dribbling water. Whatever you do don’t push on the drill - just let it do the work.

Also get the bit spinning fast. For a cordless drill I put the drill in #2 setting. also set the torque of the drill to a low setting maybe 2 or 3 if it is slipping too much go up from there. This wills stop the drill from breaking the glass if it binds up.
