My first every nano reef tank has a total volume of 80 liters (approximately 20 gallons) and measures 62 cm x 36 cm x 36 cm. The tank itself is an all-in-one (AIO) system from Blue Aquaristic. In the back chamber, I utilize a combination of coarse and fine sponges to effectively filter out debris and maintain water clarity.

The heating system is an Aqualantis EasyKlim+ 75-watt heater, which ensures stable and reliable temperature control. For water circulation, I have equipped the tank with a Reef Motion 1.5KDC return pump, which provides strong and consistent flow throughout the display along with a Tunze Turbelle® nanostream® 6020.

For protein skimming, I rely on the DOC Skimmer 9001 DC, known for its compact size and efficient performance in small aquariums. Lighting is provided by an AI Prime 16 HD, mounted securely using a dedicated mounting arm, with the lighting schedule based on the Saxby preset available on the AI website under signatures.

To support nutrient balance, I dose Microbe-Lift Basic for both phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N). Additionally, I use Microbe-Lift All-in-One once per week to supply essential trace elements to the system.

The tank is home to a variety of marine life, including 5 snails, 1 young sand-sifting starfish, 2 ocellaris clownfish, and 2 orange hermit crabs.

Looks very nice, the empty spaces of the rock do not bother you? This is my tank, and trying to find things to put in asap to hide the rocks, plus have someone who swims in it as well. i"d much rather see corals and a fish or 3 than bare rocks in my tank.

Thank you very much Brian! Since this tank is at the moment 71 days old (setup on 31.08.2024) I don't want to rush it with corals risking to loose them. For the future I will try to fill in every single space and making a nice nano reef out of it.

nice. combining the time the corals you see in my tank were in a modified betta tank, and now been in this tank for almost a week, I was out looking at my lfs yesterday for a swimming occupant, and of course they are out of stock on the common clowns, and expect to have them available in 2 WEEKS.... UGH. got 2 hermits but no clown.

Ok, nice that you repurposed a betta tank! Is it common in the US to wait for fishes that long?

Don't think so, they say the common clown is their most popular fish so they sell a lot of them, plus this store qt's all fish before offering them for sale, which is probably a good thing..... but means if they are out of stock on something one has to WAIT..... I could take a gamble and get one from a local Petco. The betta tank became my Fluval evo 13.5 now, which is a much better set up for them.

Hi, I have the same aquarium and the same light, I'm going to start the cycle and I would like to know how the Saxby configuration is going and how high you have the light from the surface of the water, I'm new and I'm very lost :(

The Saxby configuration is great. But keep in mind that you should decrease it's intensity on the 20G, since the AI Prime 16HD is too strong ;-). I have my prime mounted to the official mounting arm. So far I had issues that are related to the maturing process (hair algae, diatoms, cyanos) but now it is starting to settle down.

Ultimately this is what I did about 3-4 weeks ago. I wanted a new clown, the lfs I usually go to was out and not set to have any more for 2-3 weeks. I was really disappointed, but never the less my 6 year old asked to go to Petco “WHERE THE PETS GO MOMMY!!” So we did just that. I believe I got a $140-$160+ clown for $20. I believe she *I say she cause she’s huge imo* is a designer snowflake clown. We named her angel. Shes about an inch and a half long maybe!
