anyone here have experience with watching a hammer coral split?
mine hasnt been looking so happy the last couple of weeks he extends to a regular width but his polyps stay small, i havent been able to find a similar picture online to my issue, i have 2 other frogspawns and two torches in my tank and they look great, always a full and plump extension and my fiji torch is 3 times the size it was when i got him but little hammer just doesnt fit in...unfortunately i dont have a photo right now (will post later) but if anyone has an idea about what could be going on or what to look for for signs of splitting id really appreciate it!

that awkward moment when you refractometer gets miscalibrated!
and you think your salt is through the roof so your youre lowering and lowering and come to find out it was fine all along and your so freaking lucky you didnt kill everything in your tank!

anyways tanks looking good rescaped and gave my yellow choris blue hippo 2 clowns 2 skunks and blood shrimp to a buddy of mine who had a bigger tank until my 300 is ready:)
so i have a yellow tang the size of a 2 quarters and redline wrasse sittin gcozy while i deck the cube with corals:)

just an update on my Lps garden.
Everything is looking great my hammer that was not looking so hot is making a comeback. My duncan is growing everyday, it started out with 3 heads and now just a little over a year later has almost 15 heads now.
i'm down to just my christmas wrasse now but he's doing great! awesome appetite and very curious.

Right now the tank is running on

one 5gallon water change a week with red sea coral pro salt mix

adjusted the biocube protein skimmer and it's really pulling its weight.
chemipure
u.v sterilizer
2 koralia pumps
a rotating return pump head
and a jbj ato

Things are going great planning on moving soon and thats when the big transfer from the biocube to the 240 is going to happen!

The multicolored hammer is at least 6-7 inches long and the wellso is a good 5-6 inches when fully expanded!
super pumped about them!:)

Latest fts running out of real estate lol
Added a hippo tang the size of a quarter. She's beautiful and hungry as a horse. Hopefully my upgrade will be all done by the time she's ready to move up:)

I think I got it this time.

for anyone following this thread and just for the sake of keeping notes I just wanted to give a little update
I am currently seeing the most amount of expansion and growth I've ever seen in my tank.
Current stock list includes
1 clownfish
1 melanarus wrasse
1 redline wrasse
1 quarter size hippo tang( yes I know don't worry I keep them for a few months then take them back to the pet store when they are too big)
Corals include
1 blastomussa which has gone from 2 heads to over 10 within a few months
1 Duncan coral who I've had for over a year has grown from 3 heads to over 25
1 green torch with 6 heads
2 frogsspawns
1 rose anemone
1 kenya tree
1 toadstool leather has doubled in size
Some Xenia which are getting out of hand
1 colony of gsp which has also doubled
In size
And finally a newly added red bta

All in a 30 gallon bio cube
I just wanted to share why I believe my tank has finally reached its happy place.
I know I am overstocked for my tank size along with fish who will/are outgrowing it but that's neither here nor there lol.

I am currently doing 1-2 5 gallon water changes each weak, depending on how many water changes in between I replace at least one or more of the filter media.

I was dosing my tank but due to the amount of water changes I do I felt that it was no longer necessary.
I also recently changed my sand from black to white which does give the tank a cleaner look in my honest opinion.
I feed my corals 1-2 times a week vitamin enriched mysid shrimp.
I feed my fish a mixture of the same shrimp, or pellets, or sea veggies. 3-4 times a week.

For water circulation I connected a 360 degree turning head to my return pump into the tank to give more of a random flow.
I also had 2 small koralia pumps running as well
1 was at the back of the tank to keep detritus from building up behind the rock work
And the other was on top of the tank just to add more flow.
That one I now believe was one too many. I never felt that I had too much flow but in the last few weeks since cutting that last pump I have seen a huge difference in expansion in all of my corals.
I really think I have finally hit my tanks sweet spot and look forward to watching everything continually take off!

Sweet find at my lfs today!
I'm going to focus more on my corals so tomorrow I'll be redoing my aquascape and taking my two wrasses back to my lfs it's time to lighten the bioload
Can't wait to see how it turns out

So I have to get around to posting pics but just a quick update.
I completely rescaped my tank and was able to remove both wrasses as well as my large Xenia covered rock!
I also started dosing 2 part supplements and the change has been staggering!
My frog spawns have already began to split my Duncan who had come to a standstill has started growing new heads. My torch even has what I think are new heads beginning to bud.
It's amazing.
I've spent so much time trying to get these corals to grow and keep all the fish I want.
But the sad reality is in the biocube life that's just not the case!
I'm so much happier now that my corals are taking off my remaining fish are doing amazing and everything is really going in the right direction!

I did have a small mishap :(
unfortunately my gbta ate my goby I just purchased.
I came home and found the spit out body of the goby next to the nem.:/
He must've gotten to close when the lights when out and that was a wrap:(

I'm going to go and invest in some serious nassarius snails to work the sandbed.
Other than that pictures will be coming tomorrow I'm so excited about the progress I've seen so recently.
Big things coming!
