MY Torch :(

So for about a week now my torch coral got tipped over by a fish or something and has been deflated for a week now. any suggestions would help i do not know what to do at this point i feel like i might lose it. all my other corals seem to be fine in the tank so i do not think its a water pram problem sense i check everything about twice a week. posted Some before and after pics

yes about a week i think about 10 days to be right. and just looks like that every day when the lights come on. it closes up at night like it normally did.

Welcome, first of all.

Don’t give up hope yet. As long as the tissue is intact there is a chance. The gang here can advise you on the best way to revive it if it can be done. Post your tank parameter.

I see you moved it. It could be reacting to the change in light or flow insted of or in addition to being knocked into the sand.

I would do a Lugol's dip to help out any damaged tissue (I have had great luck with Lugol's on damaged euphyllia) then mount onto a small rock and put it back where it was happy. The mounting part is just to prevent it from being knocked over again.

Then leave it be for a bit.

ETA: I just noticed you wrote that it looks like that when the lights are on. Did you move it up? It might be reacting to higher PAR.

i moved it to that spot today it used to be on the sand bed before today so it has looked like that for the past 10 days in its original spot. alk is 8.2 cal is around 450 and phos is at .08. salinity is good at .025 the only other thing that has happen recently is i had a phosphate swing it was around .2 my gfo ran out but its back down now.

i decided to glue it to some rock work today so what ever fish was knocking over the frag would stop

well an update today i went ahead and dipped the frag and most of the soft tissue just fell off the coral there is a small portion left still on the frag so hopefully this helps but we will see.

tried the dip today most of the soft tissue fell off the frag :( but there is some still left that held on we will see what happens i guess

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear.

Assuming you followed the directions on the bottle, the tissue falling off like that means it was already on it's way out I'm afraid.

Did you notice a smell? I mean, all corals smell bad. But brown jelly disease smells RANK. If it smelled absolutely horrible, or if you saw brown slime, I would isolate or discard it.

+1 on the smell being really bad when a coral is infected/dying.
I have a bicolor hammer that, shortly after I got it, I noticed that the larger of the two heads was recesing really bad and if something passed by like a fish I would see flesh just strip off. I also began to notice some brownish substance on it. So I took it out, and man was there a noticeable stench of death.

I cut off the bad head and tossed it in the trash. I dipped the remaining one and put it back in the tank. It is still alive 9 months later and fat and healthy. Juat hasn't grown any new heads yet (not has my other hammer or my frogspawn, but that might have to do with my tank being too clean/nutrient free).

yeah i i followed the directions some of the tissue did hang on just im hoping that is enough for it to survive.
