my upgrade journal/journey

I believe so, but they may be comparable.
I think I'm going bare bottom next tank. Only reason I havent settled is because of wrasses. That said, my special grade stats put pretty well

itll be a tank transfer luis. ive been forbidden to have more than one big tank! lol. probably a good thing!
Are you able to leave the old tank up and running then transfer to the new? Being able to do that made things much easier on my last transfer. The hardest part was getting my self to tear the old one down. I so wanted to keep them both but that was not to be without buying a bigger house.

Thats it, 2 tanks it is! No hardships here! 😜

well the current tank is where the new one is going to go. so we will see how it goes. i was hoping to set it all up as a dry run. it all looks like a confusing puzzle right now with no directions! my current set up has 2 lights. but i think this one will need a third so i have one coming.
@Fish Styx , i think i found your sand! looks like its half off right now! oof. didnt realize sand would cost so much! lol. maybe i will rinse mine to mix in with new so i dont have to but so much! i like both the options! so im not sure which ill go with.

Rinsing your existing does have some benefits. You won't lose all of your bacteria and it will be somewhat phosphate bound - both good things for a new tank to avoid ammonia spikes and Dinos.

Also, using old sand saves money.

something that is going to be new for me on this build is a control panel. i guess thats to make everything neat and tidy? not sure how ill tackle that but will give it a shot! im definitely excited at the thought of having things tidier under the cabinet! what i have now is a disaster 🫣

A lot of people do that exact thing, and wash and reuse sand.

Do you have an idea of how you want to do the control panel?

First thing is to copy your thread link from your build thread.

So I was considering a Twinspot for my 8 but:
Twinspots really need a mature sand bed. They sift all day and eat from the sand. Not enough junk in the sand and they can starve.
Sadly, they usually do in most systems.
And with my Pistol Shrimp doing such an amazing job of keeping my stand turned over constantly I doubt I could support one.
