Now I need a pump with a better head rating. I'm losing a ton of volume because the head is almost 30" above the pump. It also needs a small footprint. Less then 2" wide. Any suggestions?

I love how everything is transparent

even when all the algae starts building up on all the surface area? especially the areas you cant reach but is visible because its completely transparent? ;)

I will have mangroves in the sump a sandbed and maybe even chaeto or macros. I expect the bottom to start growing things. It's inevitable. So if I put enough biological filtration it should be no issue.

Alright the pump i was running wasnt moving enough water. I dont want to put a wired powerhead in the vase messing with asthetics. So i had to upgrade my return pump to a Rio aquapump 800+. This has amazing flow and my calculated turnover rate is 12 times entire volume per hour or once every 5 minutes.

Tonight has been interesting. The overflow was very loud so i added a small venturi to allow air quietly into the overflow eliminating gurgleing noises. Now i would like to add a small door to eliminate the water splashing in the sump.

That water level looks insanely close to the edge of the vase. You get the slightest bit of algae on those overflow teeth and you are coming home to a wet floor.

Other than that... pretty slick...

Good idea to point that out i should file the teeth down a bit. I tested it in my bathtub. If the overflow gets plugged and the vase overflows. Only about 8 oz. Of water will come out. +whatever's in the ato. And that drips sooo incredibly slow it would take hours to empty the ato.
