Perhaps one of my most favored fish. Grew him from a 5 gallon into a big ole fat football. I lost him to Ich. We didn't know at the time there were strains out there that made some common treatments ineffective. After 2 failed attempts, with went with "management", but that's just an accident waiting to happen, as we all know. The last time he got sick, I was injured and couldn't tend to him. I lost him. :-( I wish I had of weighed him.

@Lionfish Lair Sorry for your loss. :( He was a beautiful fish! Seeing this makes me miss my lions from back in the day.

This is an example of how Ich management works..... until it doesn't. The next outbreak is only a mishap away. The first flair was when the ATO failed, so that it filled the sump and put the mechanism completely underwater, rusting it. We have no idea how long it was like that. My fault. Lesson learned. Next, we moved him up to a gorgeous 2 foot wide tank where he could spread his "wings". Here's an example of how change, even the good kind, causes stress and stress is not a friend of 'ich management". The third time was when we bought a new home. I couldn't keep him healthy enough and stress free enough to get it back in check with my medical issues. It's rotten luck that everything happened at once, but rotten luck is just around the corner in anyone's life, so don't let stability be an integral part in the success of your treatment plan.

At least he's memorialized....

@Lionfish Lair Don't beat yourself up too bad; we all make mistakes. I lost probably hundreds of fish to ich during my "management years".

They seem to jump more when you have them trained to be hand fed, at least in my experience with my fuzzy. :(

Gorgeous fish! Sorry for your loss. :(
