I make my own too. LRS Reef Frenzy is like $45/lb ….ridiculous. Even big flat packs of brine shrimp are typically at least $12/ lb. A lot of Asian grocery stores have great options for frozen seafood too. Also agree with using ziplock bags, just spread thin and lay flat to freeze and you can break off pieces as you need them.

Nice!
All the specialty freeze-dried and powder additives seems like a bit of an initial investment but I guess that all works out, long term.

Never thought to add gelatin -- I guess that binds everything together?

Yes! My first iteration on these I didn’t have all the fancy freeze dried and powdered stuff. Just The Selcon, nori, and frozen stuff. The first time I added way too much gelatin; fish still loved them; just needed to work at them more. They came up with a game of steal the food cube.

ya, I always put it in a ziplock and flatten it, just broke a chunk off. Learned to make it thin my first few times it was way too thick and solid as a rock, had to chip it with something.

The last time I made them waaay too thick again... had enough and brought them up to the kitchen and cut them with the big French Knife.

Ive found the seaweed has enough binder in it.

If it's being frozen, I don't see why any binder is necessary at all. The nori is good to add regardless though!
