My IM 20 stock desktop dc pump failed right as I was watching it. I took it out cleaned it, no luck.
I know it’s not a plug issue since I swapped it to the second pump and no issues.

I have temporarily replaced it with a aquatop pump i had lying around.

This is the first pump that has outright failed on me. Never had that happen before with any pump.

So I am looking for recommendations. Something that will fit in the AIO, DC powered and controllable would be nice.

MightyJet is an option but as mentioned that this is the first pump that’s ever failed on me I am worried about IM’s quality but open to hear other peoples experience.

I have an IM 30 long. Although I was pleased with the stock mighty jet, I wanted something that was programable and upgraded to AI Axis 40. Strong pump, and I run it with the mobius app.

I have been satisfied so far 👍

How often do you clean it? Has it shown any signs of slowing down?
One of my Nero 3 has slowed down for sure and it cannot run at anything above 80% and errors out. Has to be reconnected and speed slowed down to 70-75%. I use that weekly to stir up all the crud from the bottom of the tank.

I use a ZKSJ (similar model as IOAOI and AI axis) as the return pump for my nano. Super compact and surprisingly powerful. I clean it like once every two month, lol.

Thanks for your reply. I might go with AI just because I also have Nero’s in the tank.

AI Axis 20 or 40. 20 is enough, but you can push for the Axis 40 and add the variable flow generator and it'll even be better.

I am thinking 2x 20s the tank came with 2 pumps and I like the redundancy so if one fails the other keeps going. Also I like the separation of pipes, keeps the center clear.

I like the MightyJet that's in my IM AIO 20 gallon... but of course, it hasn't failed on me like yours did. Still, if it did, I would be tempted to buy another one. Unless you are just in the mood anyway, for a change. 😉

I have the IOAOI and the Axis 20, and I love them both. I ended up getting the Axis cheap, and it works nice since I have Blades and a Nero, so I can control them all with the same app. I keep the IOAOI for a backup just in case.

My ONLY gripe, and it is not that big of a deal, is the top doesn't come off for cleaning. The water is pushed up through 3 small channels to the top outlet, and there is really no good way to clean the gunk out of there that builds up. Citric acid soak and shaking gets most of it out, but it would be nice if that top part came off to deep clean.

The best tool I found to clean hard-to-reach gunk is my Waterpik. Make sure to switch the tip before sticking it in your mouth tho, lol.

well.. I waited for Amazon day to get my Axis pumps and I am very close to regretting it.

All those who use Axis pump do you have a issue where if running at 100% the pump auto stops and ramps back up?

I eventually figured that annything above 95% is causing it to do that.

I found other threads complaining the same but no solutions or has anyone figure out a solution?

My Axis 20 did that. I reached out to AI, and of course they said “we’ve never heard of this”. They sent me a new one under warranty, and it works fine.

I did see that both of the pumps were manufactured back in 2024 and one is already out of warranty.

I assume issue with older pump.

I have proof of purchase so I home they do allow me to claim warranty.

I purchased my DCS-1200 for my IM 15 and it pushes through VCA so I would recommend the 1500 pump.

I have the IOAOI
Question. When you have the IOAIO set to wave mode and increase the flow does your flow rate change or just the pulse interval? Mine is a fast pulse on 01 that gets slower as I increase to 10 but the actual pressure does not change, only the pulse interval. If I have it set to constant it operates as expected, low output pressure set at 01 that gradually increases as adjusted to 10.
