So I am narrowing down my list for my nano reef, it is a bio cube 8 picture attached,

and I am thinking of going with a yasha and banded pistol combo and either a purple firefish pair or maybe a yellowhead jawfish. Thoughts? Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Not enough sand for jaw fish IMO. And if doing them I would suggest making a sturdy base under your rocks to keep it from falling down. I have seen people put PVC pipe into the sand for them and they are 50/50 on using them. Either will or won't.

Good to know thank you. The rocks in there are completely buried in the sand although I have been thinking of tying them together with some fishing line for a bit of a stronger foundation.

The best jaw fish tank I have seen in person. Was in a 150 deep, 31" tall tank with 14" of sand. She had large rocks In the sand that say on egg crate and PVC shelves. At different depths, and made cave areas they could clear out She had 4 pairs of jaw fish love happily for 2 years. But she added a tang later on and it stressed te jaw fish. They quit eating one by one. Was sad. Lol. But ya I've owned 1, was happy in his home for 6 months. Then we moved and he just never made settled back in..was in a 40b with 6" of sand.

That's to bad they are very interesting fish. Maybe someday when I can get a bigger tank. I will probably go with purple firefish. I was also looking at a Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse. What do you think?

i've always loved panda gobies, neat looking guys. red scooter blennies are always fun to watch. not sure if a royal gramma is suited for a bio, but it would look nice, or a cardinal. or maybe a sea horse.

I really want the wrasse I named above. I think I will just stick with that and a yasha pistol combo.

I recently purchased a geometric hawkfish. Very small doesn't get big at all. Has green eyes and reddish orange geometric pattern. Not a hawkfish but actually an anthia if you can believe that.

It might be best for success to do just one fish for bioload reasons.

And then add the second one later on. If you get a pistol shrimp I'd adhere your rock to egg crate which would be covered by the sand

So you think a goby and the wrasse would be to much for that tank? Even if I kept up with water changes and all that.
