Anybody a contractor or have knowledge of this:

If I set up a sump in the garage and plumb it to my display tank through the garage wall to the fireplace room/family room, would this violate NC code or be an issue on a home inspection if I were to sell my home in the future?

I am not a contractor, but if you do not mess with the structure (bones) of the home it should not matter. The plumbing that goes through my wall ( air conditioned to non-air conditioned) is between the studs and any extra space that is not utilized for the plumbing (gaps) is filled with plastic filler to seal the two off from each other. If I sell my house or move my system all I would have to do is some minor drywall work with little insulation.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

Probably want to seal around the openings with fireblock spray foam just to be safe, even if you eventually plan to remove the plumbing and patch things up.

Since this is not a permanent installation the sump install wouldn’t be an issue. Just make it easy to patch back up if you want to sell or get out of the hobby.
