Been trying to get my resident crab out of my tank now for a few weeks
He's been in the tank for over a year and was fine when he was small
Well now that he's big he's started pulling corals under my rock work every time I feed my lps
A few weeks ago he pulled a scolly to the back and I had to move rock work to get it out again
Well tonight he pull a big acro stick under aswell
Enough is enough
Before people say about the traps i'v tired them all and he won't t go near them , all I get is hermit lol
Well tonight I baited him out just enough to try and get him ....dead or alive
Grabbed his claw with scissors
I couldn't pull him out lol this little crab was holding on so tight that my rock work started to move , I carried on pulling and pulling and pulling until his claw came off
I fill bad in a way but than when I think about what he's been doing I don't care
So now he just has one claw... And his days are numbered;Punch;Vamp

And by the way did I mention that's his small claw in pictures

Black Mithrax crab , ment to be reef safe but he's not safe in my tank
He's a real pain when trying to feed the lps and so strong , I'd never of thought he could pull the acro that he did unless I saw it with my own eyes

Wait til it's dark, lights out. Take a small piece of shrimp, tie it onto monofilament or thread, toss it into the tank near his lair, and ..... wait. He'll come out to eat. When he grabs on, slowly (gently) lift him out. I usually keep a net under the offender in case they drop off, but they usually hang tight until they surface. A red light will allow you to see them without them seeing you. I use a red fishing headlamp. It's worked with small rock crabs, gorillas, even a mantis.
