I have been letting go of some big tangs because they out grew my tank. And i had to many.. It has been a month long process getting them out by catching them in a fish trap. Im down to one more tang and he was to big to fit in the trap the way it was designed to work.. So I made a couple of alterations to it and it should work now with no issues. But the tang is not a fan of the trap and will take some time. But my question is in the event i do catch him tonight would it be ok to keep him in a 20 gallon rubbermaid bin with a maxi jet for some flow and maybe a heater overnight until I can get him where he needs to go tomorrow?

I would throw some pvc or a rock just to make him feel comfortable. But imo he would be ok. When I moved I had all my fish in a rubber maid with 5 rocks and a powerhead and heater for 2 days.

Ahhh....the fish trap. I am glad to see your are taking the time to care for them and move them to a bigger tank. Keep up the good work.
