Need an id on this

my LFS saud this is a hammer coral so i bought the frag but as i got home and looked at it....it dont look like hammer coral.
can anyone identify this for me please.

That's definitely not a Hammer. Either a Torch or Frogspawn. It's hard to tell from the picture since it's not opened.

Definitely a Torch.

I agree. Looks like a torch coral (Euphyllia glabrescens). Not a hammer but still a nice piece of coral!

Medium light and flow. Biggest thing is to make sure the sweeper tentacles won't hit any othe coral. At night they can get several inches long and will sting the coral if they hit it.

thanks nick...i placed it on the sand on the other side of the tank away from every coral... is this okay?

Yeah depending on the type of light you have and how deep the tank is. My torches always seem to color up much brighter under lower light so I think you should be good. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it's doing well.

thank you...i have an orbit marine reef lighting, tank is 17" deep.

Yeah should be fine. If you can find a spot up a bit higher it might like it more then the sand bed but if not it should be good.
