Hello. I am an experienced anemone keeper but have had a strange thing happen. My nems have been doing weird things over the last 2 weeks. Here is 4 days ago:

This is yesterday:

My question is before that first pic, the nem on the right was HUGE (half the tank height). Then the left nem in front got really small. Then both were small. Now the one on the left is big and my expensive bright orange nem is weirdly small and not so healthy looking. Tips and advice appreciated! Tank parameters are normal and stable.

Btw, foot looks okay but wasn't fully attached last night and when I feed frozen shrimp, the bright orange would not take the food... Prior it was a ferocious eater.

So I'm very sure I figured out the problem, but I need a solution now. My orange anemone and my rock anemone have been touching for the last few weeks. The rock anemone has clearly won because the top half of the orange anemone is deteriorating. How do it fix this?

I hope that is what is happening. My other nem split 2 months ago but this looks like the orange nem is rotting away on the edge that was in contact with the rock nem. Anything I can add or do to hasten the healing process of a nem fight? I've done a 50% water change 2 days in a row now and sucked dead nem tentacles off with a pipet earlier today prior to the water change.

Carbon and daily water changes but rock nems are usually not that big of a deal I mean they could fight but after they fight they should tolerate each other.

The rock nem and my orange nem had been touching for at least a month before this happened. I added a lot of new carbon yesterday. I hope that helps. But the orange nem looked worse today than yesterday.

That's weird it might be splitting I'd hold off on the water changes for a little bit and just use the carbon and give the nem some time and see if it splits

I thought different species of anemones Shouldn't touch....and kinda confused as I see nothing that looks remotely like a rock nem.

Many species of nem can touch each other no problem rock flowers and bubbles I've had no issues housing together and I'm sure a lot of people have had them on this forum too there's a good compatibility chart somewhere on here I'll try to link it:)

Thanks for that awesome list! So if my rock and orange nem should be okay, which they were for about 3 weeks, what could be the cause of not splitting? The rock nem is just on the other side of that rock in the front right that you can't see.

I will have to post a pic prior to the damage. I'm still trying to figure out what type of nem I even bought. The guy claimed bubble tip but I've never seen it bubble like my other 3 do. Can anyone tell just from current pictures posted?

I decided not to look at the tank yesterday so that I wouldn't keep doing things. Today I just looked and this is what my nem looks like today.

looks like it moved and the foot is swollen. Probably because it isn't done moving. Mouth looks open today but not by much. Weird because my other 3 bubble tips are doing great and my rock is doing good too. So good, that my rock nem looks to have sprouted a second baby rock nem.

Looks like it might have an infection once it detached that's not a good sign it's normal for nems to deflate a bit but it's a bad sign when they detach I would remove and if possible try to save it with cipro
