Need help setting up light ( smatfarm 140W G6)

I’m not sure what to set the channels too. I’m mostly sticking with softies at first . May get a bta at some point but that’s about it. Don’t have access to a par meter till Thursday. Can anyone lead me on right direction.

I feel bad that no one has responded here yet, but I do not have experience with this fixture. I can say I am almost certain it can generate more than enough power for softies and BTA. When you have your PAR meter, you want to set it so the PAR is 150 or lower, with softies generally preferring sub-100 PAR and BTAs being happy generally around 150 in my experience. Tune the color to your visual liking, just keep in mind too much white spectrum can encourage nuissance algae growth in the presence of excess nitrate and phosphate.

90 on the sandbed should be plenty, just make sure that doesn't translate to PAR being too high on your rockwork.

Please share your PAR results when you get them. I have the same light and I've been ramping up slowly. I'm at ~75% on channels 1,2,3 and around 10 on the last three. I've noticed some of my corals expelling zooxanthellae after my last ramp up, so I'm a little concerned I'm either ramping too fast, or just too high of PAR.

I'll be interested to find out what you learn.

Correction I do sunrise 10-12
Sunset 20-2200
Moontime 2200-2300
So 13hrs total
2hrs ramp up
2hrs ramp down,
1hrs moonlight

I am replacing an AI Prime 16HD so this is quite a bit more power than the Prime. I started with it at around 50% and I've been increasing by 2-5% every few weeks. My tank is 20" deep and it's mounted around 6" over the tank.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I bet my PAR is way higher than I originally thought. My tank is pretty similar in size to yours, plus I have 2 x 39W t5's for coverage. I'm definitely going to look into renting a PAR meter now.

Of course, thankful for my lfs really good shop and only one of the marine stores.
