Hello everyone,

I need some serious help from crafty people. I have an aqueon 36 gallon tank set that I bought from pets mart two years ago. I finally decided to buy a sump for my tank. My only problem is that I have a cables nest issue under my tank. Since I will be adding a sump soon I want to organize all of the apex and cable equipment. I was thinking of mounting the equipment into something but I do not know what. Problems are: I do not want to drill the stand because I feel is not sturdy enough. Also, I want to be able to mount the equipment on the outside of the stand. I also want everything to look neat and nice. Please help! Thanks

Here are some pics. The last two pics show where I would like to mount the apex

Get a piece of grade A plywood and stain or paint it to match your decor. You could mount it right to the wall and if you built it out a bit, run all your cable through to the back and inside your stand.

How can I mount it without having to drill the plywood into the stand?

Depending on how and where you put the plywood, you could screw it to the stand and have it reinforce the stand instead of weaken it. I added some 2x4 braces to a store bought stand that I didn't feel was quite sturdy enough. And if you do it on the inside it won't detract from the look of the stand.

If you're dead set against drilling or screwing the stand you could use some industrial double sided tape or sticky sided velcro. A word or warning though, make sure that if something comes loose it will not fall into water!!!

The right way to do it is to mount with screws somehow.

Like most folks with everything in the stand, space is tight. For mine I mounted all the Apex equipment to a 2'x3' pine board that I can slide in and out of the stand.
