I’ve had my 20g tank for about a year now and if I could do one thing over it would be buying my rocks instore and not online!! I felt like the rocks I’ve had just don’t suit my tank or something no matter what I do I can never get them looking right.

Any ideas how I can make it more better looking? I was thinking maybe I should even remove some of the rocks for a more minimal look. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve changed the rocks around trying to find the perfect layout

Yeah I can see what you mean. Generally we should try to avoid the "heap of rock" look.

You can borrow some concepts from the "Golden ratio" which supposedly we are biologically wired to find pleasing. In tanks what this means is you want to have varied features "off center" with various elements roughly following the 1/3 2/3 ratio as an approximation.

For ex, this is my tank, the second pic ill overlay the ratios so you can see better what I mean.
