looks like a great base for coral placement, but depending on your fish socking you should be short on habitat

Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post....but....My tank is one year"ish" old. It seems to be going fine, but I feel like I need more hiding spaces for my Tangs (newbie mistake with the original aqua scape). I'm looking for advice on if this is a good idea - considering - things seem to be ok at the moment. I have 4 arches...but 2 of them are smallish, and my tangs (except for the Scopes) don't seem to like them. One is medium size - but again - the tangs don't hang out there....so basically, 4 of my tangs all want to be in the arch that is just a little right of center. As they get bigger (which they are and will continue to grow) I don't want it to become an issue. I've purchase some carib sea arches that arrived broken - but have plans to repair. Thoughts on where/if I should re-scape to perhaps bring in more arches for the tangs - and of course....more coral.

Hi guys, new member with his first tank here looking for some input for the scape on my WB peninsula mini 25.
The bottom of the scape will be covered by sand and it's about half the height of the tank.
I tried to follow the rule of thirds but it's hard in a tank this small.
(also excuse the messy garage )

+1. This is IMPORTANT when doing NSA aquascape, the fish need dark/hiding spots, or they're gonna be stressed out

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some input on a creative way to re-do my aquascape and coral placements.

I will be pulling the whole structure out this weekend and breaking it apart to remove a large mass of the rock. Getting the rock off the back wall and coral off of the glass.

I would like to follow The Rule of Thirds and Color Theory.

Any constructive criticism is welcome.

Thank you,
Jacob

Looking for any advice on my scape here. First time reefer!

I am considering chiseling some of the smaller rocks around the base into more interesting shapes, but I’m not sure. Would love any feedback or ideas.

I am planning on starting with some softies and LPS but would eventually like to keep a few SPS on the upper levels of the tower. 2 vortech MP10s are on order for flow.

I intend to keep fish bio load fairly low.

thanks!

I'm new as well , haven't gotten to the corals yet . I like your scape , i think you're on the right path with breaking down the white rock into smaller pieces. Long as you can clean the clean all the way around..even better . I'd like to see the outcome with corals .

If you need an outside perspective to help with improving your aquascape, just post here a few shots of your tank, and will try my best shot at providing specific advise according to your goals for the tank.

Sometimes I can just answer here, show the alterations using photoshop or make a video.

Just post here front shots with your cellphone/camera positioned at 3 different heights (sand level, centre and water level) and also a couple of angled photos, so that I can have a better understanding of your tank's layout.

This is a subject that is surprisingly not researched by most reefers and I have given some thought and some time ago I did a similar exercise in another forum.

It's also a great way for everyone to learn from each other and see a few freshwater techniques that we can apply and also many others that are specific for reef tanks.

In the meantime, if you want some inspiration here are a few videos I made with suggestions for different tank shapes.

This is my tank and current aquascape. Looking to add a few more rocks to add additional hiding spots for some fish. Any suggestions would be great.

What kind of fish are you keeping ? What size tank is that 55 or 75 ? An how many new rocks are you picking up matters , the shapes ... far as flat , base etc . No expert at all but I love scaping my freshwater with every water change I do. I'm only 2 months in with salt , but have definitely changed the scape a few times to get it how I like . But also for what fish I'll keep.

I have no fish currently still trying to put together a list and plan for my fish. I definitely want more caves in the aqua scape for sure. What shape rocks would you recommend? And the tank is a 75 gal.

Ahh ok I have a 40 breeder , use to have a 75 before I started saltwater . Still have a freshwater 125 gallon running. Sorry for the bad pic's, but I just play around with the rocks to my liking . You can also Google to get ideas and add your twist to what you see . Maybe some of your middle rocks you could lay down . Make a small cave and build from there. Also build some depth look wise. Offset some of the rock work as well.
