Is the expectation that all of the scape get covered with coral?

I really like your rock scape!

Thanks!

The amount of your rock that you cover is personal preference. But try to get an idea of what corals you might eventually like to put where and plan ahead as best you can. Many softies, LPS and SPS can get quite large. Imagine baseball size or even volleyball size…

Hope this upload comes through.

I am considering zoas, torches, hammers, leathers and one island of gsp, at this point.

Honestly, too symmetrical - the center rockpiece needs to be moved to the right more.

Rule with aquascaping, never use symmetry or have anything in the center unless it's part of the larger aquascape (ie. you have central layout that connects to the two sides].

What if you removed the piece on the back right, moved the smaller piece in front of it into the middle, and moved the middle piece to the right side? You might have to reduce the size of that big middle piece to make it work.

I actually really like each of the rocks you put together. I just think you’re going to feel crowded really quickly when it comes time to add corals. Torches, hammers and leathers can get BIG. Especially leathers!

At the end of the day it is YOUR aquascape. Do what you like! Just do it knowing the pros and cons :)

How about this one? I also got rid of the arch on the left. After a while, it just felt unnatural to me and not a great layout for coral.

Also, I wouldn’t post if I didn’t’t like it. :). But there are so many options, so if I am going to stare at it for the next decade, I might as well get it as perfect as can be…

I LIKE that! In my inexperienced opinion, I think that will work much better! Lots more room for corals and swimmers than the original rendition.

Hello hello, i'm in the process of making my aquascape for my reefer 900. It's the hardest decision in my life i believe hahaha.

I made few differents attempts, nothing is finale, and i should receive some more stone and i have a bunch of small one that isn't used yet (could be use to fill some hole or made the shelf more natural).

Maybe you can help me decide in wich direction to go and give me some tips or idea.

My first try :

The second one :

Third :

And last (the height is only 50cm and the tank is 63cm) :

I like the 2nd one best. My personal preference is usually multiple formations over one single one. Depending on coral plans, you might want to make the peaks less like narrow columns though. Hard to put coral on straight vertical rock vs sloped.

Here is a challenge. 300 gallon reef. 8 ft long 24” deep and 29” tall.
What do you recommend?

You can try the concave layout where you basically create 2 mounds with a valley in the middle.

Or this convex layout where you have a huge mound slight off-center that tapers off towards the ends.

I've just stumbled upon this thread after my husband said he wishes the rock scape has height. So I went to breaking rock. It was hard to do at first but once the peices started coming together it was hard to stop!!
The first pic was the 1st rockscape we did. We just stacked em up .... The next 2 pics are the peices I've created.
My vision is to have these peices sit ona foundation in front of the column to kind of hide the column. And have a 2nd smaller cove like structure on the right side of the tank. Still a work in progress

Here is the the scape I think I want to go with on my 120g. I've been out of saltwater for almost 12 years now but started with aquariums 30 years ago. Add to that with my hobby hoarding problems.. I have a mix of old marco rock, old fiji rock and old tonga rock. Did a bit of negative space attempts with marco. Going to keep working on trying to make something I am happy with. It has not happened. Out of frustration, I tried a build like it was 2002. What do you think of this stack? I kind of like it but wonder what other thoughts are..

I'm also using figi and tonga rock with other mixed skeletons. I really like what you did. I wish I had a few more pieces of tonga, but I do have some cat's paw to help stretch it. Just uploaded your work to my inspiration board.

Any thoughts on my current aquascape? This is for a 2x2x6' 180 gallon. The base pieces are Marco Rocks foundation pieces to lessen the stress on the glass, but the rest of the rock is old dry ocean rock from my old tanks. The pieces laying down will eventually get mortared to the main structures once I'm happy with the layout. The middle piece of tape is 1 foot up since I expect this to be a more SPS dominant system. I also have a bunch more rock set aside I can add if needed, but I feel like I probably shouldn't add too much more.

Hey everyone! I'm getting a Waterbox marine x 60.2 tomorrow. I know I'll probably get crucified for the Texas holey rock, but is this to much dry rock. The tank is 24x20x20. I'm keeping it about 3 inches from each side and it's 14 inches tall. I'm afraid of the amount of water volume it will take up, but it's my understanding that it's a part of the ecosystem. I hope to have a mixed reef system one day.

Looking for some input. Tank is. 38 gallon AIO from icecap and will be LPs and softies (first timer) with the usual suspects as far as fish goes for a tank that size.
