Need some opinions!

I'm in a bind and where beter to get some opinions then unbiased people
After college, I've been pretty much bumming around trying to start a small business, BUT I've just got an amazing job offer that I don't think I can turn down. It's in FL and I'm in VA. Now I have a TON of corals and here's where I need your help. Should I leave the hobby for a while and sell everything off, should I keep some stuff and start something small down there, or should I just say screw it I can maintain everything. Except that last option I really don't think is going to be very good since I don't think my boss would like me selling corals on the side, since I'm going to be heading an aquaculture facility. I KNOW I am going to have to sell some things but don't know if I should keep anything. I'm heading down next week to check out everything. I do know that I will be travelling a bit, since he does do some overseas aquaculture. Worst part is I've finally started collecting some corals I've wanted for ages.
And if I sell them, should I just do random packages? I can't put up everything because there's just WAY too many different frags and colonies and what not. Like maybe $100 for 10-20 frags?
It's awesome but it's tearing me apart having to tear everything down that my dad helped me build.

Congrats on the new job. Is there any reason you couldn't setup a system down there and not sell corals on the side? If it was me (I'm not quite sure what all you have), I would just setup a show tank with your most prized pieces and sell the rest off, especially stuff you know you could get again later on. Traveling may make it hard to maintain, but I have a feeling you will be disappointed if you leave entirely. Just my 2 cents.

well, i dont really know which facility ill be heading, but he's setting up a facility for sw (fish and corals) and i let him know im very interested in that facility so since ill be heading a large coral facilty as it is i dont think its right to sell them on the side...
i dont know all the info yet on the facility, but he told me currently its an indoor shrimp farm but hes gunna convert it
coolest thing is its in the same city as my school, so i will be able to help some of the newer students in a type of aquaculture that most dont know about
im thinking about selling almost everything and keeping the nicer stuff and just getting higher end stuff, maybe even a solaris
but right now the only thing im certain about is i have the job

You can always sell me some of your nice pieces and when they grow out I can ship them down to you (I'm in VA also) :D . IMO, I would not pass up a job for some corals, but that is just me. I agree with what Paintguru posted. Keep your top few and sell the rest.

mike, congrats on the new job! that sounds like it will be really fun :D like many have mentioned above, just keep few of your favorite pieces and sell the rest. you can always get those back in a trade when you're back in full swing

I would cycle a Nano... bring down your favorites and sell the rest --- Corals will be always be around.. A good job are few and in-between, and with the money of a good job - you can buy more coral later.

From my big move (and massive losses), I'd say if you are taking stuff that you can get the tanks set up as quickly as possible (I tried to do too much at once and lost all but one SPS out of over 100). If there is any chance that life will get in the way of setting up the tanks quickly, at least frag yourself some nice pieces, sell/trade/give some to friends in the hobby, so you will have a connection to get that prized coral again, if you lose it in the move. Another option is to find someone you trust enough to baby sit your corals until you can get it all set up and running down there, then move it all. There are fanatics out there that have understanding wives that allow them to have 2-100 gallon Rubbermaid tubs in the living room full of rock and coral taken to hold or from tank break downs (I was somehow able to make that work out for about 9 months:D).

i'm deffinately gunna try the job out
most jobs in aquaculture are in food farming, mainly fish and shrimp
im soo lucky that i found an ornamental job this good

im probably gunna put some up on ebay since tomorrow they have no listing fees
a few different packs, aussie acan pack, coralimorph pack, zoas/paly packs
hopefully ill be able to get pics by tomorrow though
ill keep you guys posted about that
