I am returning to the hobby after more than 10 years and thought the new automation and monitoring would be helpful. I purchased a used Neptune set posted for sale here. When trying to set it up the EB832 would not power the Apex controller. The EB832 would click twice and the fan would run but there was no power out of the outlets or aquabus ports and no lights on the EB832.

I contacted the seller and was told I needed to set it up with the included FMM module and its power supply. I tried this and the EB832 then had lights and power. My understanding is that the EB832 should power up itself and be able to run the Apex controller and not need the power of the expansion FMM to run. Is this correct? It seems I was sold a defective EB832?

Can Neptune owner please advise? Thanks!

Since the EB832 works when an external source is powering the hub via the aquabus but does not when unplugged from aquabus does this point to the 12v converter?

Aquabus is 12v so it appears the internal 12v supply is defective and it is utilizing the external source when provided? Am I understanding that correctly?

Sounds about right - if you're somewhat technical and willing to DIY to fix it (disclaimer: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK) there are several sources on this forum on how to replace the 12v PS.

If possible, I would try to contact the seller and return the product since that's not how it's supposed to work.

Good luck!

Thank you. It has the Intertek label on the rear sticker and looking inside the case it already has the Meanwell PS from the factory. Any documented cases of the new Meanwell PS going out also? Seems like it was the older version that fails frequently

I have seen broken joints/soldering due to heat and or due to wiggling wires etc, Maybe the internal 12v power supply could have heated up and died. Best someone that knows electrical work open it and see whats wrong. could be as simple as a bad/swollen capaciter.

I believe some folks on this forum can help fix it for a fee.

Good luck
