Hi Everyone,

Hope your all doing good , i have a apex pro and all ecotech gear, 2x XR15s, 2x mp40s, vectra s2 pumps etc, I work away so I'm not at home 8 days a fortnight, and think i would like to be able to control my tank system remotely, Am i better off going with reef link or going the Neptune MXM unit and controlling the ecotech gear through the apex pro or is the reef link and mobius system better to use with their pre loaded options etc,

what are your opinions? which way should I be looking or not looking at all? is the reeflink better or go the MXM? which has the best options, i assume its the neptune MXM but i have read the control in the fusion app for mobius gear is sub par? i have read a few older post on here about them but they are pretty old so has anything changed gotten better?

enlightened me please reef masters and thanks again for your time

cheers,

I'm not familiar with MXM but ran a reeflink to control vortechs and radions. Everything was done through a web browser. I now have Mobius and any devices that have been upgraded to mobius no longer function using reeflink. Its one or the other and all gear manufactured within the last couple of years is mobius only.
I'm not a fan of mobius because the app randomly loses track of the date and time. I only use it for vortechs.

The Reef Link was discontinued long ago and total piece of junk

If you want to control them remotely, the MXM is necessary. Sadly, the MXM doesn’t have all the features found in Mobius but has most

but is it worthwhile getting the MXM then or is it a bit of a gimmick?

It isn't a gimmick, no. However you would need to make sure each of the devices you want to control are supported. I would also add to ask yourself also what that would mean to you by control.

I have one which I was using to integrate the Orbits with the Apex and it worked fine. No complaints. As far as your list goes I can't say.

When working the MXM is fantastic....unfortunately mine routinely loses connection to all attached devices which causes me to recycle the power going to the MXM. Happens a couple of times a month. Not sure if that is a common issue or not.

Is it fully updated ? Mine did this on release but an update fixed it.

Yeah.....been updated and looked at by Neptune. They don't know what is causing it....suggested replacing the MXM module.

I’m in a similar boat to you but I went against the mxm in the end because I thought how often would I want to change flow or lights remotely? Return pump… maybe.. so I went with a reef Octo to connect apex via 0-10v.

I’d be interested in how you go with the mxm and what functionality you gain or lose vs local mobius. For US readers it’s worth pointing out we don’t get energy bar for the apex in Australia.

The big thing for me was getting the monitoring when not local. Also, you can set alarms for the wave makers, mine goes off a bit due to snails.
