I have a reefer 170 (34g) and I am looking for a wave maker. I want the Nero 5 because I like the app and I have a hydra 32 light. I read that minimum flow is around 900gph. My return is 515gph after head. I want to use the different modes and I don’t think you can if it is set to the lowest setting. If it is too big I’ll go for the mp 10 or hydor wifi controllable pump. I also want to get the larger Nero 5 because I am upgrading tanks in about 1.5 years and hope to use this pump for that too

There may be better options out there but I have one in a standard 30 gallon tank and it is doing fine. I got it to eventually put in my 75 when I transfer the coral over. I have it on random 9% to 30% during the day with 2 15 minute pulse modes at 45% to shake it up and keep clean and 9% to 20% at night. it can definitely be too much if you turn it up though, don’t run at 100!
