New addition: tree sponge

So I picked up a red/orange tree sponge today. What do you guys think?

Thanks. Any tips on care? I read they like low lighting and strong flow. I can't put him too much lower without shoving him in the sand.

I feed the inverts in my tank Marine Snow. When you took out of the bag, did you expose it to air, or did you drop bag and all in the tank?

I use reef roids for my filter feeders and my lps get marine cuisine. I did not expose it to air. I kept the bag submerged when I pulled him out. I had to put some glue on the bottom of the rock he is stuck to but I made sure to do it without exposing the sponge to air

Then you should be in good shape. I find beauty in their simplicity as organisms.

So the sponge has been in the tank for almost a month now and I noticed he had like a reddish skin on him that blew off with a turkey baster so I cleaned all of it off not knowing what it was. Is that a sign something is wrong? Or does that mean he needs more flow? I have him just out of the direct flow of one of my powerheads

I had read years ago that it was sign of decay. Mine did this, however, that was a few months ago and it's actually gotten bigger since. If there are any discolored areas or areas turning white then I'd be slightly concerned.

I don't see any white areas. I was worried it was a sign of decay
