Hey all I have been dealing with gha for a while now maybe 6 or so months but think I am finally getting it under control in saying that I am starting to get a few more corals in my tank. So 1 week ago I got a cabbage leather and am trying to see if anyone knows if it is bleaching or not on the edge it is slightly white and kind of curling up. Also on Friday (3 days ago) I got a purple capitularia from wwc. It came with 4 other corals which are all still doing well but after day 1 the capitularia started to melt/split. I am just wondering if anyone has seen this and thinks if it could be saved or not. Thank you all in advance.

Corals need light flow and nutrients to thrive. Can you share some info on your lighting, flow, and parameters?
I have some black box lights vipra spectra(the ones brs did) I have two jebao wavemakers which put a pretty good flow throughout the tank. It is 48 inch tank. I haven’t tested today but last week dkh 7.8 salinity 1.27, temp 79, nitrate says 0 as dos phosphate but I’m sure some hides in the gha ph stays around 8

They are not looking good. Post those numbers
The other corals look fine in the tank I will send a full tank picture in a second but the capitularia I was wondering if it was from shipping stress since I just got it in mail two days ago

Yes lots of times corals can get injured during shipment. Those injuries turn into bacterial infections that will kill the coral within a week or two. So sometimes corals look to have arrived ok to ultimately die. Bad parameters will increase the likelihood of that happening

Okay here is the rest of the tank. I will try to get some numbers here in a bit but everything has been pretty steady. I just didn’t know if I could save it or not and what the deal was with the cabbage

It’s also summer and if you were in an area with the heat wave last week and you received them last week that could have been it too. Won’t know for sure. I’m interested in the numbers because with gha your nutrients can be sucked up pretty quick

It was warm here around 90 but I’m in nd and they came from Florida so they had a ways to go to get here. I have always read 0 on nitrate and phosphate. I’m sure the gha is sucking it up but I will get some numbers later tonight

Okay so I ran all my tests:
Ph:7.9
Temp:79
Ammonia:0
Phosphate:0
Nitrate:0
Salinity:1.265
Alkalinity:6.5
Mg:1400
Calcium:650

Is any of this to far out of whack? I know dkh is low and I’ll slowly bring that up

I would get your nitrates and phosphates up. Try feeding your tank more to raise those levels.

What are you using to test calcium? 650 is high for calcium

I was using the Salifert test kit. I have a hob skimmer should I shut that off also?? I was battling that gha is the only reason I got the skimmer
