sorry I meant... I have had nitrates to 40 ppm with no issues of algae that you speak of

How old was your tank when you had 40PPM? I do like that high nitrates = darker colors. For me 5-10PPM would be ideal range since my tank is almost 1 year and seems to handle the nutrients well. I also added T5 lighting and wanted additional nutrients so Id be happy with 5-10PPM and if it goes high I won't mind.
