Just bought my first fish for my first saltwater tank will post picture when I get home (edit just put him in and he’s struggling to swim is that ok maybe too much flow) he can still swim but struggles is it ok

should I aim powerhead more up or like towards the glass so one side has lots of flow and one side doesn’t?

You can aim the powerhead towards the surface and play with it until you get a nice flow. Watch some videos of swimming clownfish to give you an idea.

If it’s still too much, you might want to get a smaller powerhead. What are you using and what size tank?

That’s a bit too big, especially for a clown fish. The tank is small so the water is quickly bouncing on the sides and making it worse.

Try aiming at the surface. The wider angle, the less flow left in the tank but the more you will hear water trickling.

You need to fix this because it will be stressful for your fish and he is already stressed from changing homes. Stress in fish (and animals in general) can bring disease.
