First time posting and might need some help to figure out how to upload the video. 😅😭

I have never seen my tang do this before. What exactly is going on here? Is this flashing, territorial display, just my tang being ridiculous? He will swim around the tank looking for food and then swim back to that corner quickly and rub against the glass. Earlier I caught him doing it towards the cleaner shrimp to who happens to hang out in that corner. Im worried about flukes or possibly stress from adding a new tankmate recently. Help!

(Don't come for me for the fake plants. Ik they are not the best, but I am using them temporarily to break sight barriers and give new fish a chance to get established. My purple tang is a major jerk and will chase new tankmates)

Im guessing he sees his reflection in the glass, and is bowing up on that jerk who mimics EVERY. SINGLE. ACTION that he does! LOL. Seriously, that looks behavioral to me.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The dull coloration, rapid breathing and flashing all point to gill flukes and possibly skin flukes.

Are there any other fish in with it? How do they look?
Any invertebrates in the tank (that can change the treatment method used).

One treatment, if there are no invertebrates, is hyposalinity:

If you have inverts in there, you would need to use praziquantel:

This was my fear. Unfortunately my tang did not make it. The other fish in the tank including a handful of damsels, a clownfish, and a lionfish are not showing any symptoms. There are inverts in the tank. I guess the next course of action is some prazipro and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed the rest will be fine. It had to have come in on the lion since he was the newest addition so ill be keeping a very close eye on him. Adding prazipro to my quarantine regimen from here on out as well.
Thank you for your response

Sorry to hear that. I agree, a preventative Prazipro treatment (twice, 7 days apart) would be something to do, even if the other fish aren’t showing symptoms. With prazipro, be sure the tank has good aeration, and dose it to the actual, net volume of water. If you don’t know that, dose at 85% of the rated tank volume to take into consideration displacement by rocks, etc.

Will do. Thank you so very much! Fingers crossed that everyone else will be okay 🤞
