Welcome to R2R and the salty world Jonathan. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.

Hello
I’m new to reef tanks and new to this forum.

we’ve had the 95 gallon reef tank in our home several years with a guy taking care of it twice monthly. I’ve taken over to save some money.
We have hard and soft coral and several fish. Tiny bit of sand on the bottom.

I’ve been doing 20% water changes every two weeks with Instant Ocean and testing weekly with various Hanna and Salifert kits. All the levels seem ok for now and the tank looks good.

The alkalinity dropped from 7 dKH to 6.4 over the Christmas break. I’m wondering if it’s just cause I did no feeding for those four days we were out of town. This test was performed just prior to changing 20% of the water today, so I’ll test again tomorrow and see where it’s at

Anyhow, cheers, and thanks for keeping this community going.
Jonathan
