Can I use a 280 advance controller with a 150 gyre? For instance could I use it only on a 150 or maybe a 150 and 280 together? Thanks.

Sorry, you can't mix match pump models to controller. Only the 280 will work with XF280 Gyre Pumps. You would need a 250 advanced controller to run the Gyre XF150/250 and that controller will only run XF 150/250 Gyre models.

So if you have the new apex should you buy the Icecap and pump only or do you need the controller as well?

The IceCap is just an interface so you will need a pump and power supply and you can run the Gyre on the Apex and will still have to write code to command the pump. The Advanced controller with the ICV6 will hook up to the Apex network in the near future.

Thumbs up to the new XF250!! Just posted this in another thread.

I got the XF250 pump only in and broke it open.

At first glance there are no differences between the xf250 and the xf150 IF you've kept up with the latest spare parts.

But once I started taking it apart the very subtle build quality or quality control improvements was apparent and greatly appreciated. With the previous bushings it was such an extreme tight fit a hammer, vice grips, and punch out was required to remove for some of my parts. (I have a billion spare parts now...)

Everything on the xf250 was very smooth to turn, twist, take apart, put back together, etc. More so then the original xf150 with all original parts.

It seems like they listened to us or they figured it out on their own but either way its very nice how everything seems to actually fit together the way its supposed to and easily.

Also, they included snail guard sleeves which is SO much better then the useless foam that they were including that clogs up in a day. I'm going to use them as they seem perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Awesomeness. No cutting and sewing or zip ties as you'll see in the pictures below.

I can verify that the new xf250 is fully compatible with the xf150 powersupply, basic controller, and icecap/apex controller.

I don't notice any difference in flow. I like the new sleeve guards. They are slightly smaller then the nylon netting I was using.

Also, I used some of the spare parts on my other gyre and the new xf250 parts fit much better then the previous spar parts I had. Particularly I'm talking about the clear plastic piece that fits on the shaft.

The new xf250 is as quite as expected. But I was lucky and never had noise issues some had with the original gyre before the new suspension mounts were available.

Is it correct to say that L.T.C. And Random modes do not spin the blades in reverse? So it would be not necessary to install 2A blades on a single pump. We would get more flow if we didn't install the same letter blades on one pump? Thank you.

You are correct. The Oceanic Gyre preset mode will utilize the reverse function of the pump.

I have a pair of the xf 250 and I am extremely pleased with the flow.. I struggled With 5 jabeo pumps to get flow in my 150XH . The gyres eliminated my dead spot issues and with 2 pumps . The way they move water can't be compared to standard wave makers!! Much cleaner look and the advanced controller is great for people that don't run apex of similar tech like myself...
Thx

Can I just get the pump and run it off my apex without any other controller?
Also will the magnet on the 280 hold on 3/4" plywood/epoxy?
Thanks

You can use the icecap apex modules. I'm using those with my xf250

So I still have to buy another item and can't just plug it into my apex and run it through that?
Many things are that way unfortunately. I don't have the new advanced controller so don't know how it interfaces.
