New hammer heads sprouting?

I was taking some photos of my hammer and noticed what appear to be new heads sprouting up. I count at least 7 or 8 just on this one side.

Is that what these are? And if so, how fast do these typically take to develop assuming it's happy? I thought I might eventually see one or two, but this really surprised me.

Any thoughts as to how long a guy might expect a fully formed head to take shape once he sees something like in the pic above? I'm sure there is a range depending on conditions, but I mean an approximate baseline? This is my fist LPS.
