Hello all, a little background, my tank just recovered from a tank swap disaster. My livestock that survived the crash appears fine and thriving, the color even came back in my gsp. My parameters are stable so i decided to start adding livestock again.

Last night i got 2 clowns and a hammer. The clowns seem to be enjoying themselves but the hammer seems to be taking his sweet time extending. He has been in the tank about 24 hrs now.

24 hours is a short amount of time. In my experience they need to settle a little. Does look like you have some elevated params there also

Yea, and water changes haven't been working. Today was the first time tank was fed in over a month. Think my test may be bad, or crappy salt.

This is my first hammer and i figured i would gamble $20 as i had grown tired of watching crabs and gsp.

The hammer appears to be continuing to expand, was just taking longer than other types did to open and wasn't sure if i should be worried...

Hopeing to get better test kit next Friday

Hello, hope alls well

Hammers are pretty hardy. What size tank/light? May be getting to much light. Also may be getting to much flow. You can move it around in the tank. Hammers will respond pretty quickly if you find the right spot.

I got an ic loop light, i cut my daylight intensity this morning. According to manufacture specs, i should get a max of 70 par on my sand bed at full intensity

I was wondering about the flow, just slid him a lil closer to the reef. Hopefully he will like it better.

I'm running dual IC pros plus an orphek 120 uv bar for supplemental light on my 75. I run blues at 100 and whites at 60. My hammers are low in the tank and happy

Ya take it slow and give him time. Will be fluffier in lower flow and more compact in higher. If you do move it give it time to settle again before moving again

I also cut the pump behind him to 70%. Wish i could control the other but not yet, about a week or so before i can replace it with a loop power head. Hopefuly he will settle in...
