So I got these hammers three days ago from a reliable private seller. They looked great in his tank so I took them home.
At home I dipped them in the TM iodine dip as per the directions (5 minutes). Rinsed in fresh salt twice. And since nothing came off I add them to a lower flow, lower light area of the tank. Not sure what else I can do? Should I just wait a little longer or is then something I can to to help them recover. Was the dip what did it?

tank parameters
Red Sea test kits used
par 60-70 for their locations
Ph 8.2
Nitrates 5
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0
Phos 0 per API test

I know these are on the low side I’m just trying to keep a stable number rather then risk swings at this point
Alk 7
cal 380
Mag 1000

The third hammer in the background is closed up since I took this picture at night. Normally he opens up fine but the two other hammers don’t change day or night.

Any thoughts are welcomed. Also I added an octospawn and some zoas from the same seller at the same time. They both seem fine no issues after a day in the tank.

Your parameters are very low. Is your salinity 1.026? You want your alk 7-10dkh, calcium 400-480, magnesium 1280-1400, you also want measurable phosphate, api kits won’t do.

My salinity is 1.027, I’ve calibrated my refractometer 3 times, with a calibrated solution at 35 ppt.
I’m using tropic Marin pro salt mix which has a average value of
Alkalinity - 7
Calcium - 440 ppm
Magnesium - 1350 ppm

I’ll try and get my hand on another test kit to verify my numbers

You were right I took some water to the LFS and had them check it... my refractometer is bad and was 0.010 off despite the fact that I have calibrated it several time. So what I thought was 1.026 is in fact 1.017
