New issue re overflow gasket

While trying to figure out my protein skimmer, I noticed I had an issue with water leaking from the return pump
Gasket in the overflow. This water was running down the line (just a trickle) and is rusting the metal hose clamp. Is there a quick fix to seal that up properly?

I know people use adhesives (like contractor silicone) to try and seal it up. I usually recommend (if possible) taking it apart, cleaning it, and using a food or aquarium grade lubricant on the gasket. Also, hand tight is usually enough. If you over tighten and deform the gasket it will leak.

I just redid a used tank using @Aquaforest AF Silicone lubricant and no leaks after testing for 5 days. Once you have it, it works great on pump seals and orings when cleaning too.

Yeah I threw some tank silicone on it and it seems to be much better. Going to do another coat when this one dries all the way which may be a while. It’s a couple drops now instead of a stream
