Hey everyone. May be looking to upgrade our lighting in the future, but not sure if we really need to. I feel we have enough light, and it's mostly nutrients that we're lacking.

We have a 125 mixed reef (standard 72x21x18) with 4 52w Current USA R24s, and 2 95w R24s.

We did have a ton of coral, but we had a lot going with life and I ended up skipping my weekly/bi weekly water changes for a while. Ended up losing all of our euphylia , sps, lps, mostly everything. I lost my huge Duncan colony and currently our newest Duncan will only open when the lights are off.

Our BTA are thriving, have split, and are growing. We also still have a lot of zoas, mushrooms, toadstools, and gsp. We also have a nice bubble coral, and finger leathers.

Do these 6 lights seem like they should be enough? I've never loved the spectrum of them, but they seemed to grow coral well and I love the ramp up/down feature.

I got all of these for free from Current at the time, so while very fortunate, I would like a better spectrum/color. These Currents just always have an "off" look to them except for when just the blues are on.

I don't want anything mounting to the ceiling and would ideally like tank mounted with ramp up and down features. This tank is a non drilled standard Aqueon from Petsmart, so has the thick black plastic trim.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Nice tank! One possibility to consider is the Reef Breeder's light which BRS has ranked as a solid value for the price. As far as your current lights, you may want to rent or borrow a PAR meter which will give you some additional information. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Any other ideas? The Reef Breeders was on my list, but just curious as to what's out there for these needs nowadays.

My Current lights may be fine and it's more a nutrient/parameter issue than lighting.

I believe I'm going to go with the Nicrew. I've mostly just been not happy with these Current Lights. Nicrew grew everything in my freshwater days, and we have one of their smaller salt lights back from when we started. Their color on their lights is amazing, especially compared to Current.

Post pics of before and after if you can. Mine are starting to burn out the blues and was considering the nicrew. I have a 4 foot tank and was going to do one 200 to start.

I'm going to probably start with one 200 over a 4 ft tank and just leave the 55,s on the ends.

What are your settings? I have a 200 coming in tomorrow. Opened Amazon credit card and got it for $192
I did the pro setting or whatever the recommended is.

On at 10:30 with blues only at 10%, ramp up to 11:30 full spectrum, ramp down to blues only at 20% at 5:30, then down to 0 at 10:30.

So far so good
