Welcome to the forum! We generally talk about cycling a tank as a one time event to get a tank ready for inhabitants. That is a convenience. The reality is bacteria will continue to adjust its effectiveness throughout the life of the tank. When it comes to adding life to a new tank, the cycle is just the beginning. The tank will mature slowly from that state and life should be added very slowly allowing the bacteria to adjust along the way. Add some life, then wait and monitor. If parameters are good and stable. Add a little more life and monitor again. Resist the urge to add everything fast or all at once and stay patient.

Very well stated my friend.

Welcome, sandman50. We're glad you are here and all the great advice is for the betterment of your tank and future critters.

I have a 16 gal LED Biocube. Wet/dry filtration system with polishing pad on top going thru a bio foam, charcoal, and a mechanical filter. Temp is right around 78-80. Thinking of doing a 25% water change. Any thoughts are appreciated. TIA
