Hey everyone! I’m new to the forum, not necessarily to reefing. Setup a bigger 55 gallon tank recently, so I’ll be stocking that in the coming weeks. I have 6 chromis, 1 LTA, 1 brain coral, a bunch of green mushroom corals, kenya tree, some Xenia, and a neon green coral (polyp maybe)? Forgot the name...

We are in the process of building a home so I didn’t want TOO big of a tank to have to move there, and placement right now isn’t ideal (near window). I am waiting on some blue vinyl to block light from the back so this should help considerably. No heat issues so far, the sun hits 1/4 of the back of the tank for maybe two hours.

I was going to setup a sump for this but the thought overwhelmed me, so I am running two hang-on filters. Lighting is LED (Dolphin2) on a daily schedule of whites, blues, and moon. Not sure I have the schedule down pat yet.

Next week I have a pair of black ice clowns coming In for the LTA

Nice to meet everyone! Looking forward to joining in on some of the discussions. Have a great weekend!

Some pics below, any constructive criticism on the setup is welcome!! Like I said blocking the back soon (today if usps blesses me with their presence finally). The sun rises on the right of the aquarium, goes over the window after about 2 hrs and is gone. I am thinking the vinyl should stop this.

Welcome to Reef2Reef! My only piece of advice would be to prop up that Euphylliid (the branching green one in the second pic) so that the flesh of the polyps isn't touching rock around it, that way it won't get irritated or damaged in flow :)

thank you for the advice! I was so unsure about the positioning of that, and now I know the name too

I am moving it as we speak (type)

Welcome to R2R. You have a lovely tank. Lots of knowledgable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.
