just curious why you're selling the Noopsyches. I'm actually between those and this light, but most likely I'm going to get the nicrews because I've heard Noopsyche has bad customer service and it takes a long time for them to ship.

I want to try something new. Nothing wrong with the K7 Pro V3s, they have performed well. I need to update my for sale post as I have two Noops available.

i had two 100w gen 1s and it was perfect. Just got the new 100w gen 2s and it has an even better spread. I have an 48” 80 gallon tank also

I would think that would be OK for most coral if you were mindful of your placement. According to the Nicrew site, each 100W fixture has a listed maximum coverage of 24"x24". My only hesitation on running these as standalone are any potential issues with spread. That said, in form factor, these look like a lot of other lights on the market so my guess is they should be fine. I've just not used a style like this before.

I only received 1 of the gen 2s because of shipping delays so I was only able to put one over the tank last night. Spread is much better and corals beyond the 24” were responding really well. So far I’ve been super impressed with the light especially at the price point

Good to hear. I've been running the Reef Breeder Photon V2+ for the last 6 years. They are a wide spread array. I expect lenses help but I've become convinced (for no provable reason) hitting the coral from all angles with light is preferred over less angles. The wider the source, the better. These pendant type lights just intuitively feel like they would not hit from as many angles. That said, I cannot argue with the widespread prevalence of the style. But to maintain my coverage, I'm going to keep running the 4x T4's and add 2 LED bars. For science! See if I can get some faster growth.

I agree completely. That’s what I miss most about metal halides and t5s. What’s funny is, I’m most excited about the upgraded mounts. Now I can add some bars to reduce shadowing for my sps

lol, idk why I wrote T4's... T5's is what I meant.

Just bought 2x 25ft sticks of 1"x1"x1/8" aluminum angle and some 3" aluminum flat stock to build up a mounting fixture for my setup. Mounting all the different lights and fixtures is a bit of a pain.

Interestingly enough, I did that yesterday. These are the 200W units. Sloppy measurements one-handed while holding a phone but I hope it conveys enough.

Do you guys think 3 of the 200w will suffice over my Innovative Marine 200 gallon or would 4 be better? The width is what worries me. I keep a Mixed reef with LPS and SPS dominant. It’s 71.3 inches by 30 inches wide and a hair under 22 tall. I ordered 3 with the controller. I have a couple Orphek blue+ if needed for supplemental lighting, but I’m not sure I want to use them. I’ll be switching out my current ReefBreeders photon 50 V2+ that I was using with the Orpheks. It’s a great light, but doesn’t cover the whole tank…Also with it coming with mounts it will be a cleaner look. Also, not sure which way to mount them. Sideways or front to back. Thoughts??

As far as wattage, the 3 200W should be more than the Reef Breeders 50". According to BRS, the Photon 50" runs at a maximum 240W. Not sure how many Orphek bars you had but I should think a couple of bars would not add enough wattage to be more than the 600W the three Nicrews would provide.

Nicrew says the 200's can cover up to 36"x36" so that should cover your 30" deep situation. As to whether the spread will support SPS or not, you might just be the guinea pig on that one! But luckily you would have the Orhpeks if needed.

But to answer your question directly, I think no one knows given how new these units are.

Yeah, it's the spread I am mostly concerned with. I actually have 4 orphek bars on currently with the Photon. 2 Orpheks in the front and 2 in the back. So that is a total of 5 cords. I am hoping to use less outlets. Thanks for your input!
