Received the 2 additionnal lamp yesterday. Was disappointed to realize that the rail kit that @Oliver@DSunY said was giving me, was not included.

nope, but they are in chinese holiday until the end of February, so I dont expect anything until then.

Its 24" square per light but i guess the edges will taper of in par a little at the edges. You will get a clearer picture when alain finishes his par test on the edges. Its pretty much the same as the red sea rs90 light but with Slightly different colour leds, that has 60cm spread also.
I think it will be close but no one has corals at the ends of there tank. Alains picture is on a large tank with two so that gives you an idea.

I am thinking if 3 would be enough for a 150 72" x 18" x 29"? Or maybe 4. 2 in the center and 1 at each end.

3 is enough for your tank.
and the Sevans suggestion about install way is completely correct.

1 at the middle point and the others at each side near the middle 40cm

there are 2 ways : mount armkits and hang pendant.

I suggest Jobs120, it is a Single 120cm pendant

Hi, just a little update, I should receive the railing kit soon, cant wait to mount that and fix all cabling adequately. A bit over 2 month in and I am having very good growth on my corals, and almost all of my algae are gone. I havent lit my T5HO since I installed my new lights. Cant wait to show the evolution

Received a pair of the Popbloom/DSunY Turing RS90 LEDs plus tank mounting brackets on Monday and thought I'd chip in with some initial thoughts:

tl;dr - I like the lights but they are clearly engineered to a low price point. I think they're decent value for money regardless.

Positives:
* The light is good. They're bright. I haven't measured PAR/PUR yet but there are plenty of numbers earlier in the thread. Definitely significantly bluer than I'm used to (these will replace a GHL Mitras 6200HV which I ran relatively white to get the PAR I wanted).
* They're relatively quiet. Not silent but equivalent to the Mitras which is a pretty quiet fixture itself I think. I'll do some specific measurements on this.
* The brackets are solid.
* Customer support got back to my emails and seem friendly enough.
* FedEx Priority delivery was nice and unexpected.
* They don't seem to run crazily hot. Was reading about 60deg surface temp of the LED matrix via IR thermometer.

So-Sos:
* I wish they'd tweaked the extrusion profile selected for the top bar of the bracket so that you could tuck the power+controller cable inside it, unfortunately it's just slightly too narrow for this.
* The controller box is an ugly sheet metal construction.
* External presentation is fine. Decent tolerances on the casing and the rip-off/homage to Red Sea ReefLED means they're not unattractive. The logo on the front of the unit is fairly unobtrusive but wish it was on the side or even better back.
* They are easy to repair. Not really sure I should have had to repair them by now, but at least it was simple.
* No PWM on the fan, it's either 100% on or off. This bothers me more than it should in all fairness.

Negatives:
* One of my units had a failed (as in partially exploded!) capacitor on the 12V fan supply circuit. Made an irritating buzzing noise as a result. I replaced it myself and all fine. Personally this doesn't really bother me as I see sketchy QA as par for the course when ordering anything from AliExpress.
* *Internal* build quality is very basic. As mentioned there are no gaskets anywhere and neither is the PCB conformally coated. PCBs are at least partially, if not fully, hand soldered. I don't see any evidence of thermal protection so if the fan dies the LEDs will probably fry themselves. That shouldn't sound too negative - fundamentally the engineering is in line with my expectations based on the price.
* The controller cables are too short if you have two LEDs and want to have the controller hidden inside your cabinet (because it's *****!). Just order a 60cm extension at the same time.
* I think there's a loose connection or short inside the controller. Have noticed today that the backlight seems to flick on and off quite regularly. Not sure what's going on there yet but may be another repair needed!

we will add a test-point for the fan capacitor in the production-line. it won't happen anymore.
meanwhile, there is 2 years warranty and we will ship the fault part free when problem happen.


Yes, as you see, the fan-signal is PWM, but the fan is not PWM controlled.

The fun stop during the night and is on when sunrise.

I have forwarded your suggestion to our R&D. they may estimate this change in next hardware version (at least 6 months latter).



"1 controller + 1 light panel" for 60cm tank :1 meter length from the controller to the first light panel
"1 controller + more light panels" : 1.5 meter lenght from controller to first light panel. 1.5 meter between each two panels.
Yes, if not enought, there is 0.6,1.2,1.8 meter extension cords.

We will estimate your suggestion about " tweaked the extrusion profile selected for the top bar of the bracket" base on more customer-review about the requirement of the power adaptor on the arm kit. Let you know after we finish this.

Just on the whole controller cable length thing - you may want to double check what cables you're sending out with multiple unit orders to ensure they're correct? I ordered two LEDs and the 'F' cable (from controller to LED unit 'tails') I received was only ~0.8m long - from the above it sounds like it should have been 1.5m, which would be a much more sensible length.

Anyway, given that you've kindly agreed to send out an additional 0.6m extension as quid pro quo for me doing the little DIY repair I'm happy.

Please do consider publishing the specification for the controller interface - I think there's an overlap between the people who'll be buying lights at this price point and those who enjoy some DIY/hacking. If you look at the success of the reef-pi project for example you can see there's quite a large userbase in this bracket.

Received the hanging kit yesterday, apart the transportation damages (thanks UPS...) look good. Not totally fan of the mounting system, but that is probably because I will install it in an unconventional way. While it is made to be hanging it, I will use it as a rail system on my actual pendant, so I will have to solidify the connection between the 80cm rails.

Yes, there is 0.8m from the controller to the first F 1-to-2 cords and there is also 0.7 meter from F cords to light panels, so the total is 1.5m. the picture show what I mean.

Would please may it possible share a picture of how controller to the first light. I am a little confused about this part.


I have reported your suggestion to R&D about open the interface of the controller. (electrical interface, I think ). they all think it is cool and funny. they will repare a English version of that. I will attach it after I get it.
Please do not hesitate to advice if you have any suggestion about what should be writed in that document.

Finally completed my setup with the railing kit. Looks good, but as my wife often tells me, I really cant use anything as it is supposed to. Hope Oliver wont mind ;) I didnt put the small locking pins on the lamp as they are to easy to remove and I can only imagine my tank be filled with them shortly. IMAO, the plastic used is to soft and flexible to be paired with the metal railing. While it make it less prone to breaking,it makes it more difficult to slide as it makes too much friction.
