Ideally, I would take it back citing that it wasn’t ready for purchase. There should be new tentacle growth at the fission site at the earliest, preferably fully grown. Tank switch is too traumatic for the nem at that stage.

How is the flow to the area? I would be very hesitant to physically move it. Maybe rotating the rock, but I would not detach it from were it is.

That's not the worst I've seen.

Flow is decent. It is lower down on the Rock. It is about 2" from the bottom front left. 90gal setup.

If its attached you will stress it more trying to move it.

Looks pretty bad. You could try a cipro treatment, but not sure if that'll do it either.

As others have stated, being attached to the rock is a good sign but that poor little guy is loooking pretty bad. I’ve never had success bringing a nem back to health once they start looking bad so unfortunately I don’t have anything else to add to what others have said. :(

@Amoo posted it (and it is a sticky). It's good to treat anemones with infections. Not sure if this one is infected or is just totally dying from other reasons.

At this point, probably not worth it since it'll probably die looking at it now. But possible to treat it and see if that helps.

IMO, a BTA is not worth putting through cipro treatment. It's too much work for a relatively common and inexpensive nem.

With consistent water parameters and appropriate lighting I have seen mine come back from some fairly aggressive removal from rocks. Typically would take a week or so but they would come back. I would still give it time but I agree it is not looking great. What is promising is the mouth is not gapping. The foot appears to be solid as well. Once these guys start to break down I generally see wide gapping of the mouth with a very thin foot appearance.

I don't think there's much you can do for it, just give him some time and see if it comes around. If it starts losing its color, its probably a goner.
