Hello all! I've been reading and doing a lot of research before I got my feet wet in the saltwater world. I started getting my gear together about a few months ago. I started my aquascape about a month ago. I was given some old live rock that I bleached and busted up with a hammer.

I painted the back of the tank black to hide ugly wires. I super glued and mortar all joints of the rocks for strength.

I put sand and water in on June 29th and started my cycle!

Cloudy water but after 1st day it all cleared up!

I have 2 HoBs ( Tidal 75 and Aquaclear 70) and 2 Hydor power heads to help with flow. I also have heater installed and an ATO to finish installing.
It's July 6th and I'm on the 8th day of cycle. I will post updated pics soon.

I've attached my current cycle and readings.

Should I just leave it alone and wait for the nitrites to go down? Thanks for your inputs!

Awesome job on the rocks. Go very slow with the fishes. Only add 2-3 small ones at the most to start and wait several weeks before adding more.
Once your fish are in, start adding clean up crew including several snails of different species, small reef safe hermits. Good luck you’re off to a great start.

I turned on the lights for a few, day 12 and I my new clownfish ate a few pellets this morning and seem to be doing well!

Day 17, NH3 and nitrites at zero! Nitrates between 10-20. Looking good so far! Can’t wait to add another fish…maybe a goby is what im thinking…
