Welcome to Reef2Reef. get ready for a rough ride in the first 6 to 10 months. Saltwater tanks need to mature as they say before they are stable. There is plenty of info available here for problems you may run into. Awesome that your kids are involved, learning the in and outs of water parameters and the good and bad bacteria that are involved in a tank can keep everybody on there toes for a while. I recommend paying attention to quarantine for fish and possible coral frags. Prices on live stock is high now a days, when adding fish as your tank is maturing you don't want to bring diseases in when you add new fish. The same can be said for coral frags. dipping is a must.
