I got mine from there and have recommended them to others. No one has been disappointed yet! Can’t wait to see pics!

Nice! Once you get them it may be helpful to others if you share what you do to settle that many RFAs in all at once. I look forward to see the transformation of your tank with your new additions!

I've used old snail shells as well as pvc endcaps to situate rfa's. Strongly prefer snail shells. Something about that stark white unnatural look turns me off.

I hung the prime 16 . 12" above the water and the water is 12" deep
I have all the colors to come on at 8am and ramp down at 4pm off at 7:30pm
White is at 20% All other colors at 50%

Will this work for the rock nems?

PVC end caps!!!!!

What size end caps do you use vs size of the rfa? I just ordered a 1” rfa that I will pick up on Friday. Also what is your process after they settle, move them to a rock or let them go on their own? Oh one more question, do you put some rubble on the bottom of the cap or just bare?

Per Rons thread

"What I’ve been doing most recently is buying various sizes of PVC end caps. Before I put a new RFA (or move one for some reason) I pick an end cap that is just a bit bigger in diameter inside than the RFA’s foot (yes, it’s a real guessing game). Then the PVC end cap and RFA go into a 16oz deli cup full of tank water. About 95% of the time, the nem settles down inside the PVC end cap and attaches. It may happen quickly, it may take a couple of days. Then I can take the PVC end cap and transfer it to the tank. I push the end cap down into the sand so that just a tiny bit of the end cap’s rim is exposed above the sand."

And per a conversation:
I put my end caps in a big enough container so a RFA will be well underwater. I let the end caps 'age' for a week before I add the RFA. Then 2 or 3 times a day I lift out the end cap, dump the water from the container back into the tank and refill the container with 'fresher' water from the tank. It's not about the old water being dirty, but about getting oxygenated water into the container for the nem. I don't run any water movement in the container. I find they attach between an 1 hour and 48 hours. But most are between 1 and 4 hours. And I've kept RFA's in the container for up to a week doing the 2 or 3 water changes a day.

Also answer to my light question from Ron

"I do a 6am to 11am ramp up, 5 hours at midday, and 6 hours of ramp down. But the last hour of the ramp up and the first hour of ramp down are really close to the midday levels. So I consider that I'm getting 7 to 9 hours of enough light for photosynthesis to take place. And my ramp down is about getting the whites down quickly and holding the blues up a bit longer so I can enjoy the fluorescence in the tank!"

1” is fine. You can just leave them in the caps and place where you want in the sand, or, you can remove them after they have grown and place them on the rock where there is a nice hole for their foot. Just hang upside down over water and keep lowering the water level so it keeps stretching and reaching for the water.

Is the end cap in the sand the best approach or is it better to just release it and let it settle where it’s happy?
If they are small then I'd say yes ...I ve tried both methods and had success with both ....

I have personally found that they stay put way more than any other nem. Mine have never moved. Light and flow and they seem to stay put!

What about an acclimation box in the tank with the cap in it. That was you wouldn't need to do any water changes?

Also is this the method you would also use for a BTA?
